"I have always wanted a portable photo printer just like an old polaroid camera. But polaroid cameras are chunky to carry around. This way, I can edit my photos on my phone and get them printed on the spot." - Lindis
Phone? Your “phone” is a camera, personal assistant, discman and more. Now you can upgrade it to an instant camera as well!
Polaroid's latest photographical advancement is Zip, the instant printer. It's the size of your phone and wirelessly prints photos in less than a minute. You can edit your photo, add text or sweet ‘staches before printing and handing it off to that random dude on the train. Not creepy at all.
Zip uses ZINK paper that contains dye crystals which are activated upon printing. It's inkless, so it will never smudge! No ink. No toner. No PC LOAD LETTER error messages. Just fresh, hot prints in your mitts!
Print a collage of your favorite cat pics to hang in your office. Give grandma copies of your best ‘grams over the past year. Create and print a custom business card for potential clients.
Your phone’s new upgrade is the best thing since sliced bread. Mmmmm, sliced bread. Is there an app for that?
How is the printer powered? Do I need batteries?
Zip is powered by an internal lithium-ion battery. One charge handles up to 25 prints, and you can recharge it using the cord it comes with. Sweet ‘n simple, just the way you like it.
How do I connect my phone to Zip?
You can connect to Zip using Bluetooth or NFC tech. Annnd in case you’re about to Google “Bluetooth vs NFC” we’ll save you the trouble! Bluetooth is awesome for longer distances, so if your printer is in the other room, and NFC is your go-to in crowded places where Bluetooth might pick up some interference from other devices. The range of NFC is only about 4 centimeters though, so you’ll want your phone and Zip to get real close. Saucy!
Why do I need a small printer when carrying my laserprinter around in a backpack works just fine?
Hey, if that works for you, then rock that laser printing bad boy! We do suggest seeing a chiropractor though.
